He was born in Silifke (Mersin) in 1938. After graduating from İstanbul University Psychology Department, he received his doctoral degree in cognitive psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1967. Cüceloğlu, who had worked at Hacettepe and Boğaziçi universities, continued his research as a guest lecturer at the University of California Berkeley in 1975 with Fulbright academic research scholarship. He worked at California State University (Fullerton) in 1980-1996. After returning to Turkey, he gave priority to work towards the university students, educators, parents and the business world. His inspiring life story has been published under the title “Searching for People – Doğan Cüceloğlu Book.”
